College For Living Expansion- Capital Campaign
Help us build a path to independence.
Day Spring seeks your support to expand our unique College for Living program, an educational initiative addressing a critical gap in services for young adults with intellectual disabilities (IDD) who age out of high school with limited support options. While early developmental services and public-school resources exist, post-secondary options are scarce, leaving many without opportunities for independence and community integration.
Since 2017, the College for Living has offered a transformative, college-like experience that combines life skills education, semi-independent apartment living, and mentorship to empower students to transition to independent living. The program has celebrated milestones, including its first graduates living independently, and now aims to meet the growing demand from families seeking such crucial services.
To accommodate our expanding student body, Day Spring will be relocating the College for Living to a new 19-unit apartment complex, set to open in December 2024. We are embarking on a $500,000 capital campaign to retrofit the facility with essential upgrades, including an accessible instructional kitchen, computer lab, and recreational spaces, all designed to enhance students' learning and independence.
We invite you to consider an investment in our program through naming opportunities and donor recognition. Together, we can build a more inclusive community by empowering young adults with IDD to live fulfilling, independent lives and contribute as neighbors and colleagues in Louisville.
